This course is designed for the individual who is interested in USPSA competitive shooting.  We train qualified individuals, from beginner to intermediate, wanting to learn what it takes to compete in USPSA.  Schedule permitting, we can plan a course prior to an upcoming USPSA match where the instructor will shoot alongside the student(s).

  • Shooting around and through obstacles
  • Shooting on the move
  • Speed and accuracy drills
  • Strong and weak hand shooting
  • Malfunction drills
  • Various shooting positions
  • Engaging different types of targets
  • Culmination of skills shoot
  • Developing a training program
  • Skills evaluation and counseling

Equipment List:

  • An OPEN mind
  • Pen and Paper
  • Eye and Ear protection (electronic muffs recommended)
  • Semi-auto handgun (if available, a spare weapon system is also a great idea in case of weapon failure)
  • Firearms cleaning and lubrication equipment
  • Minimum 800 rounds of ammunition
  • Minimum of 4 magazines.  Single stack shooters, minimum 7 magazines.
  • Minimum of 2 magazine pouches (division dependant, contact us for more details).  Single stack shooters, minimum 4 pouches.  
  • Sturdy gun belt (recommend inner/outer belt, i.e. CR Speed belt)
  • Strong side holster (kydex or leather)
  • Water hydrating device
  • Bag lunch and snacks
  • Seasonal appropriate clothing/rain gear
  • Sunblock
  • Bug Spray
  • Baseball style hat
  • Comfortable athletic-type shoes
  • Portable lawn chair (recommended)


Must have sucessfully completed our Basic 1-Day Handgun Course and/or Private Lesson(s) with instructor's recommendation for the Competition Handgun Course.  We will also except sucessful completion of a handgun class by a recognized firearms company. Previous military, law enforcement, or competition handgun experience considered as well.
